If you’re looking for a quick breakfast dish that’s easy to make, full of flavour & will fill you up until lunchtime then this peanut butter & jelly granola yogurt bowl is the perfect recipe for you! Here, creamy honey sweetened Greek yogurt is topped with a generous dollop of peanut butter & jelly (or fruit jam), fresh fruit & plenty of crunchy homemade granola. I used my chocolate & peanut butter granola but shop bought granola will work just as well!

This is one of those dishes that’s best made then eaten straight away. Luckily, yogurt bowls take less than 5 minutes to prepare! All you need to do is mix yogurt with honey, spoon into a bowl then finish with toppings. And even if you’re not a fan of PB&J, you can use this recipe as a base for pretty much whatever toppings you like! You can use a different flavour granola, a different nut butter or fresh berries instead of banana.

What You’ll Need

  • Yogurt – For the creamiest flavour, I’d recommend using full fat Greek yogurt. Feel free to use a different yogurt if you’d prefer though. This could be a fruit flavoured yogurt, a coconut based yogurt or even a vegan soya yogurt.
  • Granola – I made my yogurt bowl with my homemade chocolate & peanut butter granola but a shop bought one will work as well.
  • Peanut Butter – Using a good quality peanut butter makes all the difference with this recipe! You can use smooth or crunchy peanut butter.
  • Jam (Jelly) – Use whatever type of jam you like! For a classic PB&J, use grape jelly or strawberry jam. For mine, I used cherry jam.
  • Fruit – I used a sliced banana to top my yogurt bowl but you could use fresh berries, like strawberries, raspberries or blueberries instead if you’d prefer.

How To Make PB&J Yogurt Bowls

The great thing about breakfast yogurt bowls is that they’re incredibly quick & easy to make! We’re talking 5 minutes or less. They’re also surprisingly hearty & filling, so are the perfect start to your day.

As these are PB&J yogurt bowls, they’re topped with a generous amount of peanut butter, jelly (jam/conserve) & homemade peanut butter granola! I added a sliced banana on top of mine as well. That’s pretty much all there is to it! The yogurt base is simply made by mixing Greek yogurt with a spoonful of honey or maple syrup, to sweeten. Then to assemble, it’s just a case of spooning the yogurt into a bowl then topping with peanut butter, jam, fruit & granola.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of yogurt is best for yogurt bowls?

For the creamiest breakfast yogurt bowls, it’s best to use full fat Greek yogurt. However, you can use pretty much whatever yogurt you like. A fruit flavoured yogurt or coconut yogurt would work as well.

Can granola yogurt bowls be made ahead of time?

Although you can make granola yogurt bowls ahead of time, it’s best to serve them as soon as they’ve been made otherwise the granola can go soggy & the fruit could discolour. If you wanted to make yours ahead of time, I’d recommend adding the granola & fruit on top just before eating.

What flavour jam is best for PB&J yogurt bowls?

For a classic PB&J flavour, you should use either grape jelly or strawberry jam for your yogurt bowl. However, you can use pretty much whatever flavour you like!

Notes

1. Granola – I used my chocolate & peanut butter granola for my breakfast bowl but feel free to use whatever type you like! A shop bought granola will work as well.
2. Jam – Pretty much any flavour jam will work this recipe, so use whatever flavour you like best. I used cherry jam.
3. Peanut Butter – Using a good quality peanut butter makes all the difference when making this dish! Smooth & crunchy peanut butter will both work.
4. Yogurt – For the creamiest flavour, I’d recommend using full fat Greek yogurt. Feel free to use whatever yogurt you like though.
5. Making In Advance – This yogurt bowl is best prepared just before you want to eat it. If you make it too far in advance, the granola will start to soften & the banana will discolour.
6. Making More Portions – This recipe can easily be scaled up to make more than 1 yogurt bowl. As a general guide, I serve 200 grams of Greek yogurt per portion.
