The Salt Butter Smoke Magazine

Salt Butter Smoke is a new quarterly cooking magazine, from Ben Racey, the cook, recipe developer and blogger behind the recipe website saltbuttersmoke.com. The one you’re on right now!

Each issue focuses on ingredients that are at their best that season. Inside you’ll find original recipes, seasonal editorial features, ingredient guides and beautiful photography. Every recipe is developed, written and photographed all in house. If you’d like access to exclusive recipes, in a printed format, this is the place to get them!

Issue 2 focuses on festive cooking. There’s 30 recipes in this issue, for Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and beyond. This includes everything from festive baking and impressive desserts to turkey alternatives and a whole load of picky bits. Alongside the recipes, we spoke to a top London butcher for a look at where their meat comes from and they’ve shared 2 of their favourite recipes. And there’s cheese recommendations from one of the top Affineurs in the UK, to help you build the ultimate Christmas cheeseboard.

In a world full of endless scrolling, an ever increasing amount of screen time and an absurd amount of AI slop, our aim is to make something meaningful that you can hold in your hands and actually turn a page in! All while making something that promotes and celebrates seasonal ingredients. This has been a super fun project to work on and work has already started on the Winter issue, so watch this space.
