How To Compress Watermelon

Use a vacuum sealer to take an ordinary watermelon to another level with this simple technique.

Equipment

  • Vacuum Sealer
  • Vacuum Bags

Materials

  • 1 Watermelon

Instructions

  • Start by cutting the rind off the melon then cut the flesh into chunks roughly 1 cm thick.
  • Place the melon chunks into vacuum bags, making sure not to overfill each bag.
  • Vacuum seal each bag of melon. You’ll see the melon turn a vibrant red colour.
  • Use straight away or leave in bags until needed.

Notes

To make compressed melon, you’ll need a vacuum sealer. These can be picked up fairly cheaply online.
This technique can be used for most other fruits & some vegetables. Pineapple & cucumber work well.
