Food Processor
Large Baking Tray
Garlic Butter
- 150 g Unsalted Butter (Softened)
- 30 g Finely Chopped Parsley
- 10 g Grated Parmesan (Plus Extra For Topping)
- 3 Garlic Cloves (Grated/Finely Chopped)
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
Garlic Bread
- 2 Par Baked Baguettes (See Notes)
- 150 g Low Moisture Mozzarella (Shredded)
Garlic Butter
Add the butter, parsley, grated parmesan, garlic & lemon juice into a food processor, season with salt & pepper then blend until smooth.
Give the butter a taste to check the seasoning then add more salt & pepper as needed, blitzing again to combine. If you'd prefer a stronger garlic flavour, add more in now as well.
Transfer the garlic butter to a bowl then set to one side until needed.
Garlic Bread
Preheat an oven to 200°c/180°c fan (392°c/356°f).
Use a sharp serrated knife to cut the bread into 1 inch thick slices but don't cut all the way through! Stop cutting when you've cut around ⅔ of the way through the bread. Like when you cut a hassle back potato! It's not a big deal if a slice of bread does break off! Just stick the bread back together. Spread a generous amount of garlic butter into each slice/incision, being careful not to break the bread.
Next, stuff each cut/slice of bread with mozzarella then grate a generous amount of parmesan on top of the baguettes.Don't worry if any cheese is sticking out of the bread, it will melt inside as the bread bakes. Wrap each baguette in their own piece of foil, place onto a baking tray then bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, until the cheese is melty.
Next, unwrap the garlic bread to expose the top but keep each baguette inside the foil then bake for another 5-10 minutes until the cheese is crisp & golden brown.
Once cooked, serve the garlic bread whilst it's still warm & the cheese is melty!
1. To Cook In An Aga - Bake the garlic bread in the roasting oven, on the second from bottom set of runners.
2. Par Baked Baguettes - This garlic bread is made from the par baked baguettes that you can get from the supermarket. If you can't find these though, you could use a French stick instead (cut in half!) then reduce the baking time slightly.
3. Cheese - I used a low moisture mozzarella for my garlic bread as it melts really well! You could swap this out for a different like cheddar or Monterey Jack instead. It's best to shred/grate your own cheese instead of buying pre grated as it will melt better.
4. Garlic Butter - This recipe makes plenty of garlic butter, so if you've got any leftover you serve it with your garlic bread!
5. Prepping Ahead Of Time - This garlic bread can be prepared ahead of time! To do this, assemble the garlic bread then chill it in the fridge for up to 2 days before baking. I'd recommend covering the bread with clingfilm so that your fridge doesn't smell of garlic!
