Tres leches is a Latin American dessert that consists of a sponge cake that has been soaked in milks & topped with whipped cream. The 3 milks are evaporated milk, condensed milk & whole milk.
The sponge layer of a tres leches cake, is a light chiffon style sponge that is robust enough to soak up the milk without disintegrating.
Once baked, the sponge is left to cool slightly then we pour over a condensed milk, evaporated milk, whole milk & vanilla. We let the milks soak in overnight.
Our tres leches cake is topped with some softly whipped cream that is stabilised with condensed milk & flavoured with vanilla.
Tres leches cake is great served with a light dusting of cinnamon or with some seasonal, fresh berries!
